MRS. B.'s PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN MISSION STATEMENT

  • Children can develop appropriately in all areas of growth.
  • To provide opportunities for toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners to learn through challenging and stimulating activities.

*We believe that every child learns differently and just as there is not only one learning style we do not base our curriculum on one theorist’s way of teaching. Instead we have studied many teaching styles and we have adopted the best ways of teaching from each one. Mrs. B.'s is an eleven year old establishment, with a very low teacher turn over rate. Our students go on to elementary school extremely well prepared and some leave us already reading! We promise that we are not your average preschool.

What do you want the children in your care to gain while in your program?: 

Socialization for the smaller children and academics and kindergarten readiness for the preschoolers.

What sets your Agency apart from the other area Agencies?: 

Mrs. B.'s is an academic based program with a 0 teacher turn over rate. We are not a child care based center and we suit well for parents whose priority is school readiness and not long child care hours. We offer half day programs as well as full day.

Do you have the resources to accept special needs children?: 

Depending on the special need.

What is your Agency’s educational philosophy?: 

The program provides an innovative curriculum with materials, experiences teaching methods that are grounded in the principles of child development including individual appropriateness. We believe that children are intrinsically motivated to learn. The teaching staff promotes learning by providing an environment which encourages discovery, experimentation and self confidence. We also believe that the patents are the children's primary teachers and have the most influence on their growth. We view parents as our partners in the education of their children.

Have you had an “aha” moment with a child and/or a surprising result from the use of a classroom activity?: 

The staff has "aha" moments with children all of the time. This year the tddlers were exposed to circle time activites done mostly by preschoolers. We found the exposure to certain rhymes , songs and flashcards for letters and numbers of the day resulted in the toddlers recognizing letters and numbers, and in some cases the letter sounds.

Is there anything else about your Agency that you would like to be mentioned?: 

We have been established for well over a decade and we are proud of our children and staff. We enjoy teaching and watching each child grow as an individual.  Mrs. B's has been under new ownership since 2006, the school and it's lead preschool teacher has been established since 1995 (previously named Sweet Blossoms Preschool).
